Wind Dried Lotus Leaf

$15.00

In Chinese herbal tradition, lotus leaf (He Ye) is bitter in flavour and neutral in nature, with an affinity for the Liver, Spleen, and Stomach systems. It is traditionally valued for clearing summer heat, transforming Dampness, and lifting clear Yang. Its light, gentle character has made it an inseparable part of seasonal herbal tea traditions.

We source our lotus leaves from the Weishan Lake region, where lotus has long been part of the landscape and local traditions. For a more refined cup, we select young, tender leaves from the early-season harvest. These leaves are dried as whole to a near-dry state, then they are de-stemmed and cut, then carefully steam-treated and finished through a series of careful processing steps that preserve their green character and delicate lotus aroma.

What matters to us is the herb’s origin, the time taken the select the best of the best the care taken in processing, and the way this traditional ingredient brings a sense of freshness and seasonality to your tea ritual.

The first young leaves of the season are tender and delicate. Selecting them calls for careful timing and handling, and gives the tea a lighter character than leaves harvested later in the season. Our supplier’s early-season selection is part of what makes this lotus leaf tea better than other suppliers.
